Community Message

Hi All,
As the start of the season approaches, it’s timely that we highlight some general safety points for your awareness and consideration during the season for our community.

1. BE AWARE OF YOUR CHILD’S WHEREABOUTS AT ALL TIMES
Our coaches will obviously keep an eye on your children during training sessions but it is your responsibility to know where your child is at all times. We especially ask this of you on Friday nights when it’s dark and you might be in the social rooms enjoying a drink or something to eat. Ormond Park is surrounded by the Moonee Valley Creek and a freeway which makes it challenging to monitor everyone that enters the grounds. Please also ensure you are punctual to pick-up your children at the conclusion of training.

2. PLEASE CALL-OUT SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR
We ask that you exercise heightened vigilance both at Ormond Park and away matches, and that you call out any suspicious behavior and/or individuals to a committee member or club official. Please look out for each other and our kids. The safety and well-being of our players and families is of the highest importance to the club and we want to ensure we are proactive in dealing with any suspicious behaviour.

3. GENERAL OBSERVER SAFETY OFFICER
For added security on Friday nights at Ormond Park the committee will be seeking volunteers to patrol the grounds during busy times (5pm – 8pm) in a high-visibility vest in the capacity of a general observer safety officer. In addition to monitoring the grounds, an adult will be accessible for children to approach and provide support as required.

4. SLOW DOWN IN THE CAR PARK
The message here is simple, please slow down when driving in the car park and surrounding streets. The club continues to grow and with every year, we see some cars flying through the car park, admittedly it’s not always MVFC families, but it is actually an accident waiting to happen if we don’t pay attention. Please slow down and keep an eye out for children at all times.
