Moonee Valley Express - 5th April

5 Apr by Paul McMenamin

Hi everyone,

Round 1 is fast approaching (Sunday, 14th April) and it’s great to have all teams back training at Ormond Park! The club will be humming tonight (Friday) with the canteen and bar open for business from 4.30pm. We also have our family info nights for our Boys U8s, U10s, and U12’s teams. Looking forward to seeing you down there!

FIXTURES FOR ROUNDS 1 & 2
Fixtures for the first two grading rounds have been released by the EDFL and are available here: https://essendondfl.com.au/2024-edfl-junior-fixtures/

Following the first two games, there will be a further two grading rounds fixtured.

FRIDAY NIGHT BITES
Our relaunched Friday night meals will kick-off on Friday, 12th April, with the delicious menu to be released next week. A team roster has been sent to team managers to coordinate our volunteers with the preparing and serving of meals. Also new in 2024 is our weekly meat-tray (supplied by Porterhaus Butcher) and fruit basket raffle.

CLUB DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Behind the scenes over the summer months, our coaches and the club have been working with external consultant Matt Beattie (Brisbane Lions Academy coach) on a club-wide development program. The program will look to introduce a framework that defines skill levels at each age level, consistent coaching approaches, and a pathway from juniors through to seniors. This is an incredibly important investment for the club and necessary for us to continue our growth. I would like to acknowledge our fantastic coaches for their invaluable input to date.

PLAYER & VOLUNTEER REGISTRATIONS
Please note: All players and volunteers must be registered before round 1. If you are yet to do so, please jump online and register here: https://www.playhq.com/afl/org/moonee-valley-edfl/b45eef0c/register

SECOND-HAND SALES
Second hand sales (boots, shorts, and socks) will be available at the club on Friday nights for the next few weeks. We are still taking donations and would be grateful for any items that you may have outgrown or no longer need. Thank you to everyone who has already donated items. The intent of this initiative is to help families with some cost-savings and any revenue generated through second-hand sales will go straight back into the junior program.

TRAINING TOPS & MERCH
Nat will try to get around to more training sessions next week and will be on hand at the club on Friday, 12th April to distribute the remainder of the training tops for registered players.

MVFC merchandise and match day uniform items can be purchased online here: https://ur4sport.com.au/collections/edfl-mvfc-shorts-socks
