Hi everyone,
We’re officially at the halfway mark of the regular season (how time flys) with round 8 scheduled for this weekend. We’ve had an unbelievable season in terms of weather so far but the BOM tells us that this might be about to change… Weather aside and as always, we have lots going on at the club. Please read on for your latest news,
VIC METRO – GEORGE HOLDERHEADI am delighted to announce
George Holderhead has been selected in the Vic Metro squad for 2025. On behalf of the whole club, we extend a HUGE congratulations to George and his family on his selection. This is a huge achievement for any young footballer, as it puts them in the spotlight for AFL recruiters and showcases their talent on a national stage.
TRAINERS KEEP ON TRAININGWe would like to acknowledge the significant role our trainers play in enabling our kids to take the field each week. This is arguably one of the toughest volunteer roles to fill, and we are extremely grateful for our amazing team of Moonee Valley Trainers, brilliantly led by our Trainer Coordinator (and Club Registrar)
Jane Stivala.
Whilst every team has a trainer, visibility across the entire field can be challenging. Parents play an important role in supporting trainers by keeping an eye out for any players who may be injured or unwell during the game. Letting a trainer or coaches / team managers know about any concerns can help ensure that players get the attention they need. Our trainers appreciate and need the support of parents to contribute to a safe and supportive environment for all players. We also encourage parents to talk with their children to let the trainer know if they are feeling unwell during a game.
The club is committed to the health and well being of our players. On
Wednesday, 25 June, the club will be hosting a parent info session focused on kids & growing pains in partnership with
Life Performance Health. This session will provide practical information for parents managing kids that are developing and competing in multiple sports – participating in multiple weekly training sessions and matches. Stay tuned for more details.
CHANGING THE GAME PROGRAMAs mentioned in last week’s edition, we’re proud to share that the
Western Bulldogs Community Programs Team will deliver their
“Changing the Game” Gender Equality Education Session to all U14 and U16 Girls and Boys teams next week – Wednesday, 4 June, ahead of the King’s Birthday BYE Weekend.
This important session aims to:
- Promote respectful relationships and gender equality.
- Raise awareness around domestic violence and how to be active bystanders.
- Connect players with mental health and well-being resources.
- Bring our players together to foster unity, leadership, and mutual understanding across age groups and genders.
The session will be held at Ormond Park, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to building a respectful and inclusive football community.
Session times will be communicated directly by your Team Manager. Please contact
Mark Megalla (markmegalla@gmail.com) if you have any queries regarding the education session provided to players.
