Hi MVFC Community
What a start to the season! It was great to see so many Moonee Valley junior players and families back at Ormond Park last Friday night for our first full Friday night training and some more season launches and then on Sunday enjoying their footy, celebrating with their friends and supporting each other.
In this edition you’ll find a summary of Round 1 results, our Royal Stacks MVP of the week, the fixtures for Round 2, what’s on our first Friday Night Bites menu, an events update and opportunities to get involved with the club to help it continue to grow and support our community at the Valley.

For those new to the EDFL or needing a refresher of how the EDFL allocates teams to divisions, the first four rounds of the season are used by the EDFL to assess the capabilities of teams across the league in an attempt to allocate teams in a reasonably even and competitive division (referred to as grading). Adjustments to grading can still occur after round four on an exception basis. For more information, please see these two links:
https://essendondfl.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/EDFL-Junior-Grading-Policy-2024.pdfhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZikOD8me9koCjv4TvJU_hItO0Q4EtAHb/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=116248932857075570653&rtpof=true&sd=trueGenerally, fixtures will be released one or two weeks at a time before the remainder of the season is released later in the year, e.g. last year this was the case until a week after King’s Birthday when rounds 11 to 14 were released.
FRIDAY NIGHT BITES RETURNS TONIGHT Friday night bites (FNB) is back tonight, kicking things off with our famous Valley Burgers. For those who are new to the Valley, each team is rostered to assist with cooking and selling the meal of the week once per season. As with everything in our community club, we are only as good as our volunteer support, so please get behind this when your team managers reach out for support. Kicking things off will be the Under 16 girls, so feel free to head over after training to re-energise with a tasty Valley Burger!
